While the 'Summaron-M 28mm F/5.6' lens is modelled on a screw-mount produced at the Leitz factory from 1955 to 1963, Leica is quick to distinguish that this digital edition is "original, not retro". Describing the model as being reborn, rather than reconstructed, it features an M-bayonet mount, 6-bit coding and a combination of extreme depth of field, natural contrast for excellent rendition of details and visible vignetting to impart characteristics of analogue photography without sacrificing quality. It's the smallest lens of the 'M-System', with an overall length of less than 2cm, and is ideal for street photography.
