Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo announced the launch of his diffusion line, named Fear of God Essentials, in 2018, closely following his debut brand in style, but prioritized accessibility. Lorenzo's first attempt at a lower-priced collection, F.O.G., was almost exclusively collaboration-only, partnering with labels like Vans and exclusively available at American retailer Pacsun, but Essentials takes a different route. Instead of a collection reminiscent of Fear of God (which was, a Lorenzo says, what F.O.G. was), Essentials takes its own identity as a label that looks at a younger audience and produces what it needs—essentials.
