Omega launched its Planet Ocean line—an offshoot of the long-running Seamaster series—in 2005 and it has upheld the reputation of the brand as a maker of serious dive watches while taking a marginally less conservative approach to designs and colour combinations. This model comes with a modestly sized case at 39.5mm, which makes it suitable for almost any wrist size. The bezel is made from Liquidmetal™, an incredibly resistant metal and ceramic composition, and it features a helium escape valve on the case band at 10 o’clock. The marine blue dial boasts luminescent markers and quarter Arabic numerals, interrupted at 3 o’clock by a discreet date aperture. Chunky arrow hour and minute hands are echoed in the arrow-tipped seconds hand, the point of which matches the red text on the dial. The watch is powered by Omega’s Master Co-Axial Caliber 8800, developed from the original co-axial escapement invented by the celebrated English watchmaker George Daniels. It’s water-resistant to an impressive 600 metres.
