Ann Demeulemeester

Ann Demeulemeester graduated from Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1981, one of the Antwerp Six, and founded her label with her husband, the photographer Patrick Robyn, in 1985, showing in Paris from 1992. Her poetic, rock'n'roll severity, worked in black and white through long draped coats, sharp tailoring and lace-up boots, made her the romantic of the group. She left in 2013; since 2020 the house has belonged to the Italian retailer Claudio Antonioli, with Stefano Gallici as creative director since 2023.
