Part of IWC’s Portugieser family, which has its origins in the 1930s, this annual calendar model features three apertures in an arc along the top of the dial revealing the month, date and day, and only needs to be manually corrected once a year at the end of February. The small-seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock sits opposite the power-reserve indicator, giving the silver-plated dial a pleasingly symmetrical aesthetic, while the name IWC Schaffhausen has pride of place position just below the centre of the dial. It’s powered by IWC’s twin barrel 52850 calibre, part of the 52,000-calibre family, which provides a 7-day power reserve and helps drive energy-sapping complications like calendar functions. Feuille-shaped hour and minute hands add plenty of finesse to this model’s elegant look.
