The story goes that when Messi was given a Royal Oak by his club's managers in 2005, after his first Liga title, he had never seen the watch before. The Argentine footballer proceeded to collect Royal Oaks passionately and in 2010 he became an official brand ambassador. This limited edition was released in his honour, and is notable for its lack of “tapisserie” pattern on the dial, making it stand out from other Royal Oaks. In addition, the bezel and strap links are made of tantalum, an unusual element with high density and resistance to corrosion.
