Valentino

Valentino Garavani, trained in Paris, opened his couture house in Rome and in 1960 went into partnership with Giancarlo Giammetti, who ran the business alongside him for almost half a century. His red became so much his own that it is simply called Valentino red, and his clients ran from Jacqueline Kennedy to Elizabeth Taylor. Qatar's Mayhoola has owned the house since 2012, with Kering buying 30 per cent in 2023, and Alessandro Michele has been creative director since 2024.
