Sulvam

2014

sulvam.com

Launched in 2013, sulvam is the brainchild of Japanese designer Teppei Fujita. After his seven-year tenure at Yohji Yamamoto, where he worked as a pattern maker, Fujita ventured to launch his own brand—to positive response. The recipient of the 2015 Tokyo Fashion Award, the founder likens his approach to the meaning of "sulvam," Latin for "improvisation," as he designs and crafts his garments by hand. Despite being heavily inspired by his time with Yamamoto, Fujita's approach to fashion is charming and lustrous, and completely his own.
