Charles Beckman founded the Red Wing Shoe Company in Red Wing, Minnesota, in 1905, and within a decade it was making boots for American soldiers in the First World War. The Sweasy family has owned it since 1919 and runs its own tannery, S.B. Foot, whose leathers go into the Heritage collection launched in 2007: the Iron Ranger, the Moc Toe and the other work boots that crossed over into fashion.
