Quoddy takes its name from the Passamaquoddy people of Maine and its craft from the state's tradition of handsewn moccasins. The original business flourished in the mid-20th century before its trademark lapsed, and Kevin and Kirsten Shorey revived it in the late 1990s; its boat shoes, loafers, moccasins and boots are now sewn by hand in Lewiston, many of them made to order in Horween leather.
