Abel Crabos began collecting goose and duck feathers from the markets and farms of the Landes around Saint-Sever in 1859, and the family business, named Pyrenex after the nearby Pyrenees, still refines feathers and down in the town today. Long a supplier of down, it now also makes its own down jackets and bedding, filled with duck down recovered from the region's food industry, and it has stayed in the Crabos family for four generations.
