New York based label Chimala, under the guidance of Noriko Machida, is a tasteful reinterpretation of timeless workwear marked by the use of selvedge denim and classic cotton. Most known for their jeans, the brand crafts artisanal denim, reworking the tried-and-tested utilitarian silhouettes of shirts and outerwear to create pieces that celebrate the classic Americana look through the lens of Japanese design. Made in Japan using carefully hand distressed denim and specialty washes and dyeing processes, the label is inspired by vintage workwear found in the 50s and 70s.
