Very few in history can call themselves official chandlers of royal families, but such a title can be claimed by candlemaker company Trudon. Arriving in Paris in 1643, the brand got its start as a wax and candle supplier for domestic use, as well as crafting candles for churches, thanks to founder Claude Trudon. Passing on the business to his son Jacques, who joined the Versailles royal court as a grocer and wax producer, and later to Jérôme, who went on to purchase one of the largest wax producing factories in France at the time, cementing the legacy of the brand as the official candle producer to the French King and of churches all over France. In present day, Trudon produces some of the world's finest commercial candles in the same method as they did back in the 17th century, but also expanded into perfumes and home fragrances.
