Kwaidan Editions

London England

2017

Founded and run by husband-and-wife tandem Hung La and Léa Dickely, London based womenswear label Kwaidan Editions is rooted in deviating from the norm. Named after the 1965 Japanese film Masaki Kobayashi, Kwaidan Editions draws inspiration from cult horror films and scary stories and reinterprets them into the female silhouette. Breaking the boundaries on the concept of femininity, the designer duo takes the collective knowledge they've learned as they traversed their careers, surrounded by fashion mainstays like Balenciaga, Balmain, and Phoebe Philo's Céline, and allow those lessons to flourish in their brand, culminating in complex, appealing forms.
