Tom Dixon, a self-taught designer who began by welding scrap metal and made his name in the 1980s with the S-Chair for Cappellini, launched his own brand in London in 2002 with David Begg. Lighting is its heart, from the mirrored Mirror Ball to the hammered-brass Beat pendants and the molten-looking Melt, alongside furniture and home accessories unveiled each year in Milan. The company is based at Coal Drops Yard in King's Cross, where it also has its flagship shop.
