Adele Casagrande and Edoardo Fendi opened a leather and fur shop in Rome in 1925, and their five daughters turned it into a fashion house, hiring Karl Lagerfeld in 1965 to reinvent its furs; he stayed for 54 years and drew the double-F logo. Silvia Venturini Fendi, their granddaughter, created the Baguette bag in 1997, and LVMH took control around the turn of the millennium. Maria Grazia Chiuri, who started out in Fendi's accessories studio in 1989, returned as chief creative officer in 2025.
