Vyner Articles

2018

Named after Vyner Street in London’s East End where founder and Creative Director Heikki Salonen’s home and studio is located, Vyner Articles offers a fresh take on casual menswear tailoring through garments that are crafted to enhance the wearer's individuality. Flowing from a plethora of references like music, film, architecture and art, the Finnish designer’s work is greatly influenced by dissimilar artists such as Trent Reznor, David Lynch, Louise Bourgeois, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Alvar Aalto, underlining the ominous cacophony that shapes the brand’s aesthetics since its launch in 2017. Shortly after graduating from the distinguished Royal College of Art in London in 2018, Salonen launched his groundbreaking eponymous Heikki Salonen womenswear label which made him a household name in Scandinavia. With his new art-workwear-inspired venture, he intuitively creates classic apparel that he would see artists wearing on Vyner Street—and that he would wear himself—including garment-dyed and tie-dyed t-shirts, hoodies, faded black jeans, and utilitarian canvas jackets. Silhouettes are tailored close to the body and coloured in pastel hues, while tasteful distressing and graphic prints provide a jolt of street cred.
